The comedy and farce that is Loudoun County Child Protective Services cannot generate victims without the use of psychologists and psychiatrists, not any kind but special ones. The mental health professional must validate the claims of CPS. Unfortunately, the field of psychology and psychiatry has a troubled past.  The mental health profession has an extremely checkered past, organizations such as CPS are nothing more than a revenue stream for incompetent psychologists.

The above book “Freud” written by Frederick Crews documents the problems.  Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, isn’t the genius that he is portrayed to be.  The same words can be used to describe the type of psychologists that testify for CPS.  The theories and therapeutic techniques  that are employed are not based on science.

Freud was noted for his theory of repressed memories and he was also known for attributing behavior problems to childhood trauma. Frederick Crews meticulously lists the numerous problems with Freud and his theories.  The childhood trauma has really taken hold with numerous psychologists despite no evidence to support this. This theory has token hold within the Child Protective Services agency.

The typical CPS psychologist will find abuse, they will be poorly trained and not aware of the latest research. As with Freud, the CPS therapist will engage in very highly suggestive therapy.  Freud’s case files consist of case after case in which he tried to convince a patient that he or she experienced childhood trauma.  The same is applied to the CPS psychologist, they will take the idea from CPS that a child has been abused and conduct their therapy accordingly with the goal of producing a disclosure. This is where suggestibility comes into play, if you ask a child the same question over and over, you will more than likely receive a false accusation. It can be assumed that no one from CPS will be aware of the research or even the work of Frederick Crews.

Psychology as a whole has a very shaky scientific foundation to begin with , when it comes to those who testify for CPS scientific standards are completely discarded and the psychologist will testify to any and all that will help CPS win their case. I can say it enough, your attorney must get the therapy notes and all notes from every interview with your child.
